The St. Louis Chapter NRHS Presents the 11th Annual
All the Way to Santa Fe
August 22-28, 2018

The St. Louis Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will operate a private railcar trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, August 22-28, 2018. This is our first trip to nation's oldest capitol city. The early Native American inhabitants called it "Dancing Ground of The Sun"; while the founding frontiersman at the turn of the 20th century referred to it as "The City Different." Those nicknames still hold true today. Santa Fe is big in Native American history as well as Southwest art and cuisine. It is also just a 2½ hour drive from Antonito, Colorado – the eastern terminus of the Cumbres & Toltec narrow gauge railroad.

Our adventure begins when we depart St. Louis on Wednesday, August 22 at 9:15 am on our private sleeping car Cimarron River. After a six-hour layover in Kansas City we head west on the rear of Amtrak's Southwest Chief, arriving at Lamy, New Mexico Thursday afternoon. At Lamy our car will be removed from the Amtrak train for an 18-mile ride on the Santa Fe Southern Railroad to Santa Fe. Arrival in Santa Fe is in the late afternoon.

We'll be parked at the Santa Fe Railyard, a hub of entertainment, shopping, food and events. Spend the next three days exploring Santa Fe, take the New Mexico Rail Runner train to visit Albuquerque, or rent a car to visit the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad in Antonito, Colorado.

We will depart Santa Fe late morning on Monday, August 27 for our connection with Amtrak at Lamy. We arrive in Kansas City Tuesday morning and arrive in St. Louis Tuesday evening at 9:40.

Accommodations on Cimarron River consist of eleven single-occupancy roomettes and two double occupancy bedrooms. This is a picnic class trip, meaning that passengers provide their own food and beverages for the trip. Bottled water along with morning coffee and juice are provided. Ice is available for coolers. Towels and linens are provided.

Fare is $1,550 for a roomette (single occupancy) or $2,925 for a bedroom (single or double occupancy) and includes all rail transportation and six nights accommodations on Cimarron River. Reservations are on a first-come, first served basis. A down payment of $800 PER PASSENGER is required with your reservation with the balance of the fare due May 1*.
