Enjoy a Weekend in Kansas City Aboard Private Sleeping Car Cimarron River
Memorial Day Weekend – May 21-25, 2020

Join the St. Louis Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society for a relaxing Memorial Day weekend trip from St. Louis to Kansas City May 21-25. We'll be taking the Pullman sleeping car Cimarron River on a scenic ride across Missouri for a weekend in the city of jazz and barbeque.

This is the weekend for Celebration at the Station, Kansas City's big Memorial Day festivity, including a free concert of patriotic music by the Kansas City Symphony and the city's largest fireworks display. All the events take place at Union Station, where Cimarron River will be parked, so we will be in the center of the festivities. More information at www.kcsymphony.org/Celebration.

The trip will depart from the downtown St. Louis Amtrak station. Boarding at the Kirkwood Amtrak Station IS NOT available.

Thursday, May 21
Board Cimarron River at St. Louis Union Station station starting at 7:00 pm

Friday, May 22
Option - Board Cimarron River at the downtown Amtrak station starting at 8:45 am
Leave St. Louis at 9:15 am
Arrive Kansas City at 2:55 pm

Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24
Both days are yours to roam Kansas City. The Celebration at the Station event is Sunday evening.

Monday, May 25
Leave Kansas City at 7:30 am
Arrive Kirkwood at 12:30 pm, St. Louis at 1:10 pm

We will be parked on the private car track at Kansas City Union Station with easy access to all of Kansas City's attractions. There is so much to do and see in Kansas City. Union Station is directly across the street from Crowne Plaza and the National World War I Memorial. The Steamship Arabia Museum (a must-see), City Market, Westport, and Country Club Plaza are all easily reached using Kansas City's transit system, which stops at Union Station. Transit info can be found at www.ridekc.org. Restaurants abound in the area around Union Station.

Available accommodations on Cimarron River are 11 single roomettes (accommodate one person) and two double bedrooms (accommodate one or two people with its own toilet). Two additional adjoining bedrooms will be ensuited to serve as a lounge. Each accommodation has its own sink with hot and cold running water. The car has a full-size shower and is climate controlled.

This is a Picnic Class trip, meaning that passengers provide their own food and beverages. Coffee and orange juice will be provided each morning. Access to the Amtrak café car in both directions between St. Louis and Kansas City is not guaranteed. Ice and bottled water will be available on the car. A microwave and toaster are available. Fare is $545 for a roomette (single occupancy) or $995 for a bedroom (single or double occupancy) and includes all rail transportation and four nights accommodations on Cimarron River. Reservations are on a first-come, first served basis. Full payment is required with your reservation*. Make check payable to St. Louis Chapter NRHS and mail it and the required reservation sheet to:

* Important: Full fare payment is due with trip reservation. Verbal reservations will not be accepted – space is not reserved until the full payment is received. The payment is non-refundable if the reservation is cancelled and the space cannot be filled by the customer or the St Louis Chapter NRHS. The full fare will be refunded if the trip is canceled by the St. Louis Chapter NRHS. Exact dates / times subject to change per Amtrak availability.
