Indian Motorcycle 1917


With Steib sidecar

Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company, Springfield, Massachusetts

 

frame was made of steel and had a rigid rear end, with no suspension

streamlined design, with a curved fuel tank and curved handlebars

61 cubic-inch (1000cc) V-twin engine, 16 horsepower

a top speed of around 65 miles per hour (105 kilometers per hour)

air-cooled engine

three-speed transmission, which was operated by a hand-shift lever

chain drive system and a mechanical contracting brake on the rear wheel
