Built by Fleishmann Transportation Company (a subsidiary of Standard Brands),
this vinegar tank car is constructed of cypress and fir woods. Metal cars could
not be used due to the corrosive nature of the vinegar. It was painted silver to
reflect the sunlight and keep the contents cool. The tank was replaced periodically;
this one was installed in 1950. This car was donated in 1963 by Standard Brands Industries.
This tank car is believed to be only one of two remaining, the other one we
believe to be at the museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
