#3000 St. Louis – San Francisco 1960

Car number 3000 was built by the St Louis - San Francisco Railway(Frisco) as the first tri-level rack built to carry automobiles.  Its inside dimensions are 83 feet long and 8 feet 6 inches wide and it used concrete for ballast.  Due to vandalism to the automobile transporters, this type of open car was replaced by enclosed automobile transporters.  It was donated in 1977 by St Louis - San Francisco Railway Company.
